On February 3rd and 4th a technical meeting was held at University Carlos III of Madrid. The goal of the two-day workshop was to elaborate a new concept for touchless fingerprint capturing using mobile equipment. Experts from different domains such as fingerprint biometrics, image and video processing, as well as embedded system design joined the meeting for intensive discussions.
One of the most important results of the workshop was to develop a plan and set next action items towars the MobilePass contactless fingerprint capturing device, covering hardware, firmware, algorithms and evaluation with respect to the deliverables.
Furthermore, critical path for further developments have been identified and a who-does-what action plan has been created for next steps. The overall goal has been set as “having a first prototype of the capturing soft- and hardware until end of May 2015”.
